As I am Fixing any PC as of late I get the same damn question out of everyone's mouth about who is the best computer. Please, Someone get a freaking clue. I can't tell you. It's in the orders of my damn company to lie to your face and tell you how good IBM, or Dell OR Sony is,.. OR Apple.
Today I am gonna answer that question. From the field and Who seems the best. (You won't like it at all)
1.) As far as practical,,, Dell takes a front seat to everyone else. As a matter of Fact, I would think that the rest of all the other laptop and desktop makers should take a cue from Dell. Make things as modular as possible, make it accessible and make it quick to fix. I mean SHIT!!! I can clear two Dell laptops in an hour and still have time to eat a decent lunch without the rush. Dell makes it pretty easy to fix even the shittiest of jobs when it comes to repairing a laptop or desktop. I mean this. I can go on a Saturday and get a box of parts and Voilla!! I am done. What a fun job, and in less than an hour in Most cases.
But, I know this has a dark side. and trust me its really dark. Dell makes Shitty parts. This is why I think its easy to fix their damn product. Its shitty up front and breaks. Fast fixes in the mixes, leave reviews that are sixes. I guess Dell wants to be a common household name along with shit that breaks all the time like Black and decker, or Kenmore. (Don't get me started on that shit)
2.)Durable,.. IBM wins there. Their shit is only moderately difficult to get into and can be figured out after one or two times of screwing up a total teardown. But IBMs seem to work even when half their shit is gone. And, their hard drives tends to be ready to pull out and transfer to another PC of like nature to function again in some reincarnated fashion. I am fascinated by this because I can by all means see almost the same design on all their models and yet it has different shit they can do. Example. The T60 and X60 Series are different in that there is a stylus pen on the X series. But the setup and tear down is almost identical. (really it is.)
But look,.. they make a good thing bad by not making it so I can change out all parts (like Dell) and just go. Please someone tell IBM to find a way to just keep whatever system shit on your new boards on there even after test and setup. PLEASE FIX THIS!!!
Worse, the fuckin' tools they have DON'T really work to diagnose a problem. Question WHY IS IT THERE? I think its a marketing ploy to get folks to buy IBM. STOP IT!!!
3.) Performance. Apple Wins here. I like Apple and grew up with one. I made all my kick ass music and pretty artwork on them. Most folks I know who are in graphic design or some pro setting of musicianship have an apple. It's a no brainer. I sometimes wish I had the money to get one,.. alas the price is one of the reason I can't and Apple should take note, they'd have a greater audience if their shit wasn't so fuckin' expensive. Please if your wanting to put away some other company (like Dell) You might want to consider how to make it less expensive to folks who might make bigger and better shit with your product. But alas like their trademark, I know this falls on a deaf and blind inanimate object. Too bad it can't be eaten.
But Apples have a dark side too. They fail at the damnedest of times. I hear from each and every owner about how they got a project or a deadline. What the fuck? Can't you give a warning? Isn't there an error or symptom chart somewhere? Case in point. This guy had an IMAC and it was dead for 2 days because the RAM failed. FOR NO REASON!!! I still can't figure this shit out. Nor, would the extremely helpful tech support. (Really I wont go there right now. That's another diatribe.)
That's my picks for the top three things I think are the best. I know folks will disagree, but I am doing this from a guys point of view who fixes your broken shit and then have the balls to ask me:" So who has the best computer?"
Honestly, I might qualify your question with what I am fixing. If you want performance or durability or just something practical. Here they are for you to read. Please Don't get offended. Please don't ask me that same stupid question. This is my answer and I am doing it OFF DUTY. It is an opinion and frankly its made from hundreds of sorry ass PCs and laptops that people need to break and think: "is mine really worth it?"
Please people, Buy what you want, and I mean this if you are settling, you will regret this. PLUS!! Get the extended warranty. Unlike black and decker and kenmore, your PC will fail when you least expect it, and a good warranty is a great warranty when you need it. Better, it means a visit from a tech (like me) who's gonna pay you a visit and fix it at your convenience. But honestly, try not to ask the stupid question:" So who has the best computer?"
Obviously that means you settled and didn't get what you wanted. If I had MY way, I'd get what I wanted. SO SHOULD YOU! One day I might hear from those who do get what they wanted : "SO what breaks on theses most?" (That goes into another story too)
I hope this answers what I am being asked. If not,.. then please stop asking me!!!!
